Balaji Srinivasan is an Indian-American Businessman, angel investor, tech founder, philosopher, and the author of the book “The Network State: How to Start a New Country”.

Balaji Srinivasan was born and raised in Long Island, New York in the United States of America.

Professional Career

Looking into his professional career he became the co-founder of a genetic testing company called Counsyl in 2007.

Counsyl was a genetic testing company that provided its patients with tests to screen for Mendelian diseases. Counsyl was later acquired by Myriad Genetics for an amount of $375 million in 2018.

In 2013, Balaji Srinivasan joined the renowned venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz as one of its general partners. While in the firm he seemed to have impressed the venture capitalist Ben Horowitz with his concept which he called idea maze.

2013 also was the time when he co-founded the Bitcoin mining startup named 21 Inc (formally known by the name 21e6).

The company was however not successful and it had to change its business plan and convert it into a company named which facilitated its user’s replies to emails to earn cryptocurrency as a reward.

In between his time running Balaji also became the co-founder of another project named Teleport, which worked as a job search engine.

However, not many details are available to the public about the company after it was acquired by Topia in 2017.

Following the same path was also acquired in April 2018 by the digital asset exchange platform Coinbase.

Coinbase integrated into their platform and it became known as Coinbase Earn and Sreenivasan Balaji was appointed as the first CTO of Coinbase.

Balaji Sreenivasan worked in the company till 2019 after which he resigned and subsequently Coinbase Earn platform was shut down in December 2019.

As one of the largest proponents of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies Balaji has been active with his predictions and analysis of the market situations in various social media domains like X and his free newsletter

He is known for making outlandish bets on a variety of things including Bitcoins, national policy, and cultural changes

One of the bets that he made was claiming that Bitcoin would pass through the $20000 range and hit $1 million in just 90 days.

The announcement which was made towards the end of March 20, 2023, has still not come close to reality but even despite that it is still hard to ignore or undervalue the opinion of a person like him who has had a reputation and career growth that cannot be matched by many in the world.

While there have been many critics of his views and opinions on a number of subjects Srinivasan has stayed true to his philosophy and thoughts.
